A major issue relating to potential CIPN treatments is the lack of strong scientific evidence and understanding of treatment mechanisms. We are currently developing experimental models for the investigation of CIPN symptoms. These techniques will allow us to study the physiology underlying CIPN. We will also use these techniques to test a range of medications may be protective against CIPN, providing a clearer understanding of the way in which the drugs work.
The medication that we identify as showing the most promise as a treatment for CIPN will later be tested for its effectiveness in humans via clinical trials. Our study aims to develop new and effective medications to prevent or ease the symptoms of CIPN.
